About #QueerMuslimah
Tired of being asked how you reconcile being a #QueerMuslimah? Join us on Friday June 27th at 1:00 pm EST to share experiences and visions of building #QueerMuslimah communities. Let’s take up space as #QueerMuslimah to create conversation about the challenges, resilience, and complexities of these two identities: Queer and Muslimah. We hope to challenge notions of ‘coming out’ that seem to be mandatory if you want to identify anywhere on the LGBTQ spectrum, but is not necessarily the case or option for queer Muslim women.
I’m doing my research on LGBTQ Muslimahs in Toronto and I want this conversation not only to be for us but also ways our communities ( i.e. our siblings, families and schools) can be supportive.
