Outburst Crush: Maha Munaf, (mus)interpreted Artist

Meet Maha Munaf, one of the artists featured in ‪#‎musinterpreted‬ exhibition at the Daniel Spectrum. Our show is up for the entire month of April so be sure to check it out and the closing reception is Thursday May 1st!

Maha is a creative professional with nine years of experience as an architect and photographer. She is currently attending a bridging program at Humber College. After immigrating to Canada, she launched a design studio that focuses on producing creative, illustrative pieces for small businesses’ advertising.

Maha dares to live passionately and creatively everyday. Her inspiration comes from the little things in life; even a simple cup of coffee can sometimes spark ideas for her. She endeavors to capture fleeting moments and the feelings in those moments with her lens. An avid traveler, she also hopes to behold the beauty and culture of forty countries before she turns forty.

“A Call for Prayer” was originally a project about architectural restoration that Maha started as a student. The sepia-tone hopes to comprise the timelessness of the scene. Maha wants the audience to notice the merging of the Classical art period’s Doric columns with the Islamic architectural building, the mosque, in Aleppo. The women are practicing the daily activity of prayer. Maha uncovers the connection between immortal art, people and their everyday lives.
